    Valle Maggia

Just to the north of Locarno is the Valle Maggia. Very narrow in its initial stretches and only opening out further along around Gordevio, this valley is groaning with hiking and other possibilities. From Bignasco, 30km north of Locarno, the Valle Maggia divides into the Val Lavizzara leading northeast and the completely isolated Val Bavona heading northwest. Bavona is truly wild, a strip of valley floor 10km long that rises 500m over its length and is hemmed in by sheer scarps on both sides.
Valle Maggia is in the Ticino region of Switzerland and has the following activities:
Mountain Biking, Rock Climbing, Ponte Brolla, at the entrance to the Valle Maggia has climbing for all levels. Mountaineering, Snorkeling, Scuba Diving and Swimming, Ski – Touring, Hiking / Walking, Nature Appreciation,
